Five Element Depossession: The Protocols That Change How You Read Every Irregular Pulse

Most practitioners encounter these presentations and have no framework for them. This course gives you three classical protocols — Aggressive Energy, Internal Dragons, External Dragons — and the diagnostic precision to know which one to use.

Clinical Reality

Spirit Pathology Is Not Metaphor. It's a Differential.

Dr. Peter Caron has used these three protocols hundreds of times in his Manhattan clinic. Every one is grounded in classical Five Element theory and every one produces a measurable clinical outcome: pulse normalization, return of Shen brightness, and direct patient reports of feeling "like themselves again."

Shen pathology shows up in the pulse before the patient tells you anything. An irregular rhythm, choppy wei qi, a particular quality in the eyes — these are diagnosable findings, not impressions. This course teaches you to read them systematically and respond with protocols that work on the same class of patient that every acupuncturist encounters: the one who says "ever since X, I haven't been the same."

Most New Yorkers have some level of Aggressive Energy. These aren't edge cases — they're the everyday clinic.

— Dr. Peter Caron, DACM

Who Takes This Course

01 For

Licensed Practitioners

You're seeing patients who don't respond to standard treatment and whose pulse keeps showing irregular findings. You need a systematic approach to Shen pathology, not intuition.

02 For

Students & Recent Graduates

You've heard of these protocols in passing but never had a clinical instructor walk you through the needle technique, spatial management, and patient communication — all in one course.

03 For

Five Element Practitioners

You have a foundation in Five Element theory. This course activates it. You'll leave with three complete clinical protocols and the diagnostic criteria to deploy them.

The Curriculum

Complete Protocol Coverage — Nothing Withheld

01

Shen Diagnosis

Visual diagnosis through the eyes and behavior. Pulse findings — irregular rhythm, choppy or vibrating wei qi. Symptomatic presentation: nightmares, irrational behavior, inconsistency, difficulty connecting. Key diagnostic phrases to listen for.

02

Classical Five Element Theory of the Shen

What the Shen are, where they reside (the Xin Zhu), why they scatter — and why this matters clinically. Introduction to Yang Sheng as a framework. Why "ever since X" is a clinical red flag, not a psychological one.

03

Aggressive Energy Protocol

All 12 yin shu points. Superficial needling technique — how superficial is superficial. What to look for: red circles, symmetry, venting time (30–120 min). Modifications for deficient patients and energy workers.

04

External Dragons Protocol

Du20, UB11, UB23, UB61 — seven needles, reducing technique, 30-minute retention. When ED applies vs. ID: the absence of patient agency as the determining factor. Common presentations: surgery, accident, assault, involuntary drug exposure.

05

Internal Dragons Protocol

Ren 14.5, ST25, ST32, ST4 — seven needles, same technique. Agency and self-betrayal as defining features. Common presentations: abusive relationship choices, voluntary substance use, lying patterns. Managing guilt and shame in the treatment room.

06

Patient Communication & Psychological Integration

How to frame these treatments for a secular, skeptical patient. Effective language for AE, ID, and ED. Post-treatment protocol: movement, space management, herbal support. Signs of success and when re-treatment is indicated.

Dr. Caron's training in this material comes directly from Lonny Jarrett and has been refined through hundreds of clinical applications at his Upper West Side practice. He does not teach this as theory. He teaches it as a protocol he uses weekly — with the diagnostic criteria, needle technique, spatial management, and patient communication strategies that come from years of iterating on results.

With over 20,000 patient treatments performed across his clinical career — including high-volume work through Global Healthworks Foundation in Guatemala — Dr. Caron's standard is singular: does it work?

Clinical Focus
  • Advanced Orthopedics: Trigger point release, motor point stimulation, and electroacupuncture for acute structural repair.
  • Sports Medicine: High-stakes rehabilitation for athletes requiring rapid return-to-play.
  • Spirit Pathology & Five Element Protocols: Shen diagnosis and classical depossession — Aggressive Energy, Internal Dragons, External Dragons — applied to everyday clinical presentations.

Clinical FAQ

Is this course appropriate for practitioners who don't identify as Five Element practitioners?

Yes. Dr. Caron teaches Shen pathology as a diagnostic category with specific pulse and visual findings — not as a philosophical framework. If you can read a pulse and identify irregularity, you can apply these protocols regardless of your primary style.

What is the NCCAOM credit category for this course?

This course provides 1 PDA point in the AOM-OM (Acupuncture with Point Location / Diagnosis & Treatment / Oriental Medicine) category.

Can I retake the assessment if I don't pass?

Yes. You may retake the assessment as many times as needed until you pass. Our standard is clinical competence, not elimination.

Do I need prior Five Element training to take this course?

A working familiarity with Five Element theory is helpful but not required. The course includes a complete overview of the relevant Shen theory before presenting the protocols.

How long do I have access to this course?

Lifetime. You can return to the material at any time from any device.
